60 is not even close to the actual numbers. Right now we have a staff of almost 200, with about 170 working directly on games. Murphy's Law is alive in game dev so there are always some ‘oh crap!' moments to remember. For example, both ISPs ran into problems at the same time so there was no way to send or receive some critical bit of data. How many sodas and pounds of junk food were consumed during development of nail'd.
A specific count would be impossible but we all know what the fuel of the industry is. I can only speculate that Techland Warsaw devours a lot of Asian food while our development HQ in Wroclaw prefers a mix of traditional Polish food and Kebab. Pizza as the timeless classic is also always on the menu but it's not even close to the top of the list. Soda machines are also hard at work. We could probably get detailed stats for those but I'm afraid of the truth. There are even fans of healthy food in both offices, bringing their own meals or ordering something fancy. When tricks enter the picture, the dynamics of the whole affair change: players must think about launching themselves into the air and then staying there to pull off the mandatory tricks. It's a good game mechanic but it requires a different pace and track design. In nail'd the terrain is a challenge all by itself. Those spectacular vistas are full of treacherous cliffs, rocks, narrow passages and jumps. Obstacles which need to be evaded during jumps or landings are also quite common. With the high-flying jumps and stunts and the massive amount of boost combined with angles of the ramps and challenging tracks, Nail'd is sure to be a hit with any member of your household. Not to say that it won't take some skill to advance further in the Tournament Mode which can be pretty grueling at times, creating a great challenge to keep the player interested in competing to become the champion, adding replay value without a doubt. While contemplating the puny and immensely entertaining hills and dunes at the local off-road track, we realized the potential for ‘vertical gameplay' in a racing game. Thus the basic idea for nail'd was born: extreme tracks, huge jumps and incredible speed. Overall I was impressed with Nail'd. Its level designs and detail exceeded what I expect from these high-flying racing games. The lush landscapes and having elements in the world changing during the course of the race adds to the experience. The variety of parts to choose from to adjust the ride to your style is great despite not aiming at being a racing simulation. Nail'd leaves the player with just the right level to get things tuned to your liking. I was left disappointed by the vague item unlock messages and lack of local multiplayer (plugging in a controller and letting two people sit side by side and race shouldn't be forgotten!). The only reason this game gets a 4 out of 5 instead of a full 5 out of 5 is the collision detection. The collision detection is better than a lot of arcade racers out there (we will spare their names for now), even ones released this year, but if the collision detection could be just a little more exact things would be great. In all, your enjoyment of the Nail'd experience will depend heavily upon your expectations going in. Realism is not the name of the game here but instead an opportunity to experience what it would feel like to pilot a jet-engine equipped quad or bike across some of the craziest terrain the planet has to offer. Leaping through burning rings of fire and dodging the rotating blades of massive windmills is pretty wild stuff for fans of racing games and non-fans alike.

Overall, I really do think this game is a lot of fun, but it suffers from being too simplistic. In fact, the worst problem I had playing nail'd, despite the overly simplistic AI and controls, was the absolutely painfully empty multiplayer; which is sad, considering this game is almost exclusively focused on its multiplayer elements. In my opinion, nail'd would be the perfect Arcade racer, as it is essentially that: An Arcade racer that is more about speed and thrills than it is about longevity or replayability. To be honest making it over the top was one of those ideas. We were thinking about the fun of riding dirt bikes and ATVs the way they let amateurs do it. Anyone can rent a quad and try hopping over some bumps and climbing small dunes. The AI in Nail'd does offer a bit more of a challenge on the higher difficulties, but most players are going to want to play their buds or smoke some smack talking chump in California. Don't worry, because Xbox Live multiplayer is available, as well as local multiplayer but it will require a system link. The game was crushed by the big critics, and it's really unfair because despite what they say, it's actually VERY fun to play and with a full 12 player race, I think it could have been one of the best racing experience to come out all year. It's a shame too, because nail'd was actually released as a budget title at the 9.99 mark and it even comes with a DLC code for the Detonator pack which they easily could have charged 0 bucks for. Because of the lack of online community (especially on the PS3) I don't know that I can recommend it at the current MSRP (because of the low online census), but when you see nail'd on sale for sub-0, do yourself a favor and pick it up, because by then hopefully the bullshit reviews will be forgotten and people can really experience a racer that's fun for anyone regardless of skill level. http://naildbiter.com/GF2y0

It's rare for me that I play a racing game over and over, as I usually just get bored with them unless they have some sort of hook to make me come back for more. With nail'd, it was easy. It's really hard to explain, but people who have played it will know what I mean. There's just something wonderfully crazy about the game that keeps it fresh and interesting. This is because the game will track your ranking based on people from around your same City, State, or Country. Once you select your province you cannot change it so make sure you put it in correctly. On a side note, one time I was going so fast that I missed a turn off the cliff I went but I was pleasantly surprised as I flew through the air a parachute opened. Although it didn't save my life it was still pretty funny to see and I was not expecting it. The game also includes multiplayer online with up to 12 players. What it comes down to in the end, is that the game accomplishes what it set out to be: fun. There are a bunch of things I'd tweak, and for the game to have enough replay ability, I hope there are several more multiplayer tracks in the offing. The controls are simple: Throttle, Break, and that's pretty much it. You gauge your jumps via a pressure sensitive lean on the right analog stick. It's extremely simple, so even young kids can play it. The game features a pretty decent soundtrack featuring licensed songs by Rise Against, Queens of the Stone Age, and Slipknot, but not one that doesn't get old quickly. In fact, in order to hear the Slipknot or the Rise Against song, I had to skip tracks until I got to it, sometimes spending half a lap skipping songs to get to there. If there's a problem with nail'd, it's that there's not enough of it. The sixteen courses go by rather quickly, although to be fair each track has multiple ways of attacking it via secret paths. Also, I could never find anyone to play with on multiplayer, which really surprised me. Finally, it took me a while to understand the tournament trajectory. With an ATV on the cover, one might expect this game to be leaning a lot more towards the ATV than the dirt bike, but that's not the case here. Dirt bikes and ATVs are both on the same playing field and it will boil down to your preference of two wheels or four. The part upgrades don't cost a thing and upgrades vary to match your racing style. Want the most boost available, or better turning in the air? Or do you prefer to get off the line as fast as possible? The choice is yours and if it doesn't work the way you expected switch it up before the next race. My only complaint with the parts is when they are unlocked, it is very vague about what part was unlocked; it just says one new part unlocked. So players must dig though each part category and remember which was there and which is new.
Insane jumps litter the tracks in Nail'd; but don't worry about getting stuck or crashing; as the respawn feature is quick to act and won't leave you frustrated if you wander off course. http://naildbiter.com/XRg9b

Time Attack is what it says it is, the basic 'set your best time and try to better it' mode. Boost Madness, I have to say, was my favorite, where all players have unlimited amounts of boost during the entire race. Talk about crazy, as if the races aren't fast and furious enough as it is; now you have never-ending rockets strapped to you. A few races are based on your trick score, but the tricks are not your traditional Tony Hawk button combo (mashing?) style. The trick scores are accumulated through landing big jumps, popping wheelies, and getting through the gates that give you extra boost. Graphically, this game is awesome looking. The jumps feel incredible and it does a hell of a job creating that sense of speed that they were aiming for. The mud and water effects on the lens are also a very cool touch. The colors are vibrant and bright, but still have a gritty feeling to bring home that offroad feeling. All of the wacky waving inflatable arm flailing men and nail'd flags are a nice touch for the lulz. The vehicles look good and they have several customization options which change the look of the bike. Did I mention that this game absolutely flies? With the previous generation the fitness was completely on the honor system. The game had no way to make sure you were actually doing the exercises. This game adds more realism. They have included several incentives to keep on track and the side-by side workout screen was very helpful. I have to say I was impressed by the depth of this game and the flexibility. I would only add the ability to select exercises from all the workout styles, adding all my favorites into a single routine. The graphics overall aren't bad, but I do notice that sometimes while racing even without boost it can be very difficult to pick up the trail. Coloring seems to be the biggest culprit here, as there are some areas where it's very easy to see the trail. There are a great many signs marking major turns, and the fact that there is more than one way to make your way through each course is a boon. While it all comes off as sheer silly good fun (one environment actually has you racing right across the face of a dam), there are a few legit complaints to be found. First, the consistency involved in what justifies a crash is sorely lacking. Sometimes you endo off the side of the Andes Mountains and simply bounce upon impact and land safely on your tires and other times you simply brush a rock and destroy your quad in the process. Additionally, exiting the designated track areas re-spawns man and machine at the point they went off. Nail'd features boost stunts which allow you to max out your boost meter for maximum speed and these are performed by doing different things such as landing on an opponent via the Monster MTX stunt, or holding a Wheelie for over 5 seconds, or riding on a wall completely sideways for a few seconds. This is pretty cool, but it quickly loses its uniqueness, as there are no other tricks or feats to accomplish other than the 15 or so that are described in the game's manual. While those are nice, I would have preferred the ability to do tricks in the air, or the ability throw fists to smash your opponents, kinda like Road Rash. http://naildbiter.com/nzdYN

For those of you who don't know, nail'd is an offroad racer that is an alternate take on the MX vs ATV boasts to be the fastest racer on the market, and boy did they deliver. Nail'd runs RIDICULOUSLY fast as you're constantly flying through and maneuvering through jumps, twists, and turns that offer multiple paths on each racetrack. This is particularly interesting because it means that not every lap is the same standard path, which makes for a somewhat unique run each lap (similar to the way Split/Second works, only without the forced path changes) and that keeps the monotony from setting in so quickly. As with most racers, the game is played by lining up 12 participants (which you can select either ATV or MX/Dirtbike) and putting them in a fast and furious race to the finish. There are also other modifiers like unlimited boost or stunt races as well, but none of the gimmicks are any better/worse than a standard race. http://naildbiter.com/ghHkO
